For Publishers

Branded short links for publishers and newsletters

Every story goes out on five platforms, and none of them tell you which share actually sent the readers.

A newsroom or a newsletter shares dozens of links a day. Generic short links look like spam in a WhatsApp group, each platform’s analytics stop at its own walls, and adding another tracking script means another consent banner on your site.

What you actually do with it

Your masthead on every link

Put links on a short domain you own, like go.yourpaper.com, so readers see your name before they tap. One custom domain is included on the free plan.

See which share sent the readers

Clicks by day, country, device and source for every link, so you can tell whether the Facebook post or the newsletter carried the story. Preview crawlers from Facebook, WhatsApp, X, Slack and others are not counted as clicks.

Previews that stay yours

The short link redirects straight to your article, so the preview card shows your own headline and image. There is no TrimLink page in between.

Links that keep working

Free links never expire. When you reach your plan’s monthly tracked-click limit, links keep redirecting and only the counting pauses. On paid plans a link never stops because of clicks; on the free plan it keeps going up to 10 times the limit.

No consent banner for your readers

Clicks are counted server side. No cookie is set on the reader and no IP address or device fingerprint is stored with the click. The only short-lived data is a six-minute anti-fraud check that then expires on its own.

This page is for you if

  • You share links to your own stories every day
  • Your readers find you on Facebook, WhatsApp, X or in their inbox
  • You want reach numbers without tracking individual readers

Common questions

Will the preview on Facebook and WhatsApp show my article?

Yes. The short link sends crawlers and readers straight to your page, so the preview uses the title and image from your article’s own tags.

Do bots and link previews count as clicks?

No. Requests from known link-preview crawlers and bots are left out of your click counts, so a post that gets shared widely does not inflate its own numbers.

What happens if a story goes viral?

The link keeps redirecting. Past your plan’s monthly tracked-click limit we stop counting until the next cycle or an upgrade, but readers still reach the story. On the free plan that holds up to 10 times the 1,000-click limit; after that the link pauses until the next cycle or an upgrade. Paid plans have no such ceiling.

Does this add a cookie banner to my site?

No. The counting happens on the redirect, server side, before the reader reaches your page. Nothing is written to the reader’s browser.
